Original Soundtrack Cassett
Most songs we write and record have instruments and/or vocals, but nothing else. Let's face it, the most exotic sound on most of our recordings is a tambourine. This is not necessarily a Bad Thing. After all, "instruments and/or vocals" takes in a pretty wide range, from Gregorian Chant to Smooth R&B and everything in between! But every now and then, just for the sheer novelty value, you ought to consider using some kind of sound effects in one of your songs.
Some songs, like "Yellow Submarine" by the Beatles, are positively filled with scene-setting sound effects. Birds twitter throughout "Blackbird" by the same band. More recently, digital mixmeister Beck and others have combined "found sounds" and other effects with musical samples to create audio collages in their songs. Of course, this is a technique where a little bit can go a long way. There's no need to overdo it!
As a songwriter, you can specify what sound effects will be heard when by adding notations like (alarm clock here) to your lyrics sheet, or at least having a firm idea of what specific effects will be used where as you write the song. In this case, the effects would be considered part of the song. Alternatively, you can wait until you have your Producer hat on and decide whether and where to add sound effects when you mix the song. Here, the effects would be considered part of the arrangement.
Name That Sound
There are three main sources for sound effects: (1) sound effects CDs or websites; (2) TV shows, DVD movies, etc.; (3) personal recordings.
With sound effects CDs or websites, you get pre-recorded sounds of all kinds, with many variations, labeled as to subject and duration. You need the sound of a car starting up and driving off? There were a dozen variations of this sound on one CD I found. Need birds, or crickets, or elephants? Again, labeled samples by the dozen can be found on sound effects CDs. And there are whole CDs of rainstorms, jungle sounds, etc., ready for use!
Sound effects CDs can be found by the score at your local library - mine, a medium-sized branch, has drawer after drawer full of the things! For me, this beats the websites, which can be awkward to use and usually make you pay for your samples. If you're in a real hurry, maybe try online, but otherwise just head on down to the library!
Another really neat (and cheap) source of sound effects is to record a movie or TV show as you watch it and then lift some of the effects you hear (or dialog - talking is a sound effect too!) by copying them over onto a cassette or whatever you use to import outside audio into your studio.
Finally, one of my favorite sources of sound effects is to record my own. With portable, battery-operated recording devices like the Zoom H4 and others becoming available, it is a simple matter to get CD-quality recordings "on the fly" of anything from your very own rainstorm or your cute pet kitty to the crowd at a football game. A warning, though. Once you start thinking this way, it's hard to stop. (I could record an oncoming train! I could record a volcano!)
There are sounds all around you. Why not try incorporating some of them into one of your songs? It works!

Metallica has to be one of the most influential heavy metal rock bands of the 80’s. They were not popular “Hair Bands” with catchy monster ballads. Metallica challenged the limits of thrash, by using music speed and volume for the sole purpose of pure musicality. Their music resembled intricately structured works of art with heart pounding beets that would engulf your ears.
This genius band is compiled of four very talented musicians that demand pushing the envelope of how mainstream music is played; James Hatfield (lead vocals), Kirk Hammett (lead guitar), Lars Ulrich (drummer) and Robert Trujillo (bass guitar).
I still remember the first time I heard James Hatfield’s signature rhythm playing and voice growl, and Lars Ulrich’s thunderous and complex drumming, I was mesmerized. There was nothing out there that even came close to their style of playing.
By the 1990’s Metallica had changed the rules for all heavy metal bands. They were respected as pioneers of true metal with substance to their music and message. Metallica has expanded its compositional technique and a more aggressive range of expression with lyrics dealing in more personal and social conscious issues. They have been credited as one of the four biggest metal thrash bands in the company of Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. Metallica has set forth a steady stream of pure metal-head fans.
Metallica’s discography includes; Kill’ Em All (1983), Ride The Lightning (1984), Master Of Puppets (1986), …And Justice For All (1988), Metallica (1991), Load (1996), Reload (1997), St Anger (2003), and Death Magnetic (2008).

Siouxsie Banshees
The second single Boy's Don't Cry, was released in June but rather surprisingly, even after it was universally praised by critics, it failed to capture the public's attention to any great extent. In September 1978, the band embarked on a nationwide tour with Siouxsie and The Banshees, it was to prove to be a monumental turning point for The Cure. When Siouxsie's guitarist John McKay quit the band, Smith was drafted in to fulfil his duties for the rest of the tour, the experience of playing The Banshees songs live changed his perceptions of what type of band The Cure should be.
Smith was convinced that the band's direction had to change, Michael Dempsey disagreed and was summarily sacked, Smith outlining the modus operandi of the band, it was his way or the highway, simple as that. Simon Gallup from The Associates was drafted in to replace Dempsey while Matthieu Hartley also from The Associates was brought in on keyboards. In early 1980, new look The Cure entered the studio to begin work on their second album. The resulting work, Seventeen Seconds was very different from their debut, being heavily influenced by Berlin Bowie, Nick Drake and of course Siouxsie and The Banshees. It was a morose, moody, bleak album with minimalist melodies; clocking in at little over the half hour mark. It divided the critics, but it also had the effect of eking out an original niche for the band with their new sound and burgeoning anti-image attracting attention.
Just one single was taken from the album - A Forest, it was more upbeat than any other track but it was to become a song that became associated with the sound of The Cure, it secured the band their first slot on Top of the Pops. The band embarked on a gruelling world tour to promote the album, during which Smith and Hartley began to differ on some issues, on their return to England, Hartley quit. If Seventeen Seconds had being dark, their third album Faith was positively pitch and it wasn't just for effect, the mood of the band was ominously becoming darker and darker, the triangle tightening, excluding all others and invariably putting pressure on the angles.
It was met with loathing and disgust at what was perceived as shallow and pretentious; achieving exactly what Smith had desired, he was cutting his own furrow away from the masses, ergo let the masses deride if they wished. It was a tough road to take, touring the album, singing the melancholy songs night in, night out; had the effect of driving the band further and further into the black. Smith became completely engrossed in his stage persona, refusing requests for older songs, often breaking down in tears, it was dangerous ground indeed. Their subsequent non-album single Charlotte Sometimes featured Smith's girlfriend and future wife on the sleeve but the picture was completely indecipherable; there appeared to be no joy in The Cure's world. Smith became mired in a world of drugs, Lol Tolhurst's mother died but the gruelling tour to promote the album continued, these were grim days indeed.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Treatment
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a painful disorder of the wrist and hand. The carpal tunnel is a narrow tunnel formed by the bones and other tissues of your wrist. This tunnel protects your median nerve. The median nerve gives you feeling in your thumb, and index, middle and ring fingers. But when other tissues in the carpal tunnel, such as ligaments and tendons, get swollen or inflamed, they press against the median nerve. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common form of repetitive stress injury, which usually occurs when a person's wrists are exposed to continuous strain on a regular basis. Tissues surrounding the wrist tendons become so enlarged that they compress the median nerve, which runs through a passage in the wrist known as the carpal tunnel.
What are the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome?
Symptoms usually start gradually, with frequent burning, tingling, or itching numbness in the palm of the hand and the fingers, especially the thumb and the index and middle fingers. Some carpal tunnel sufferers say their fingers feel useless and swollen, even though little or no swelling is apparent. The symptoms often first appear in one or both hands during the night, since many people sleep with flexed wrists.
Corticosteroids can be taken orally or injected directly on wrist. This syndrome is a medical situation of a person whose wrist is compressed in the middle nerves by the pulse. Don't you hate those times when you are awaken by the tingling sensations in your wrists and painful feeling of your hands. It is when the wrists and hands ache severely that you can barely feel it is there. If you have confirmed the alarming carpal tunnel syndrome news, what shall you do? Treatments of it could cost you hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Underlying causes such as diabetes or arthritis should be treated first. When you are aware of the reason behind the carpal tunnel illness, it will be easier for you to avoid doing those things again so you can prevent the same condition for recurring again in the future. If there is inflammation, applying cool packs can help reduce swelling. You can start playing tennis or ball games again with your family and friends You will never miss another ball game with your fellow teammates again. Continue to do your usual outdoor activities and sports you have always loved to do. Don't let carpal tunnel stay with you and ruin your sleep which can make you a grouchy person in the mornings. You have to find out why steroid and cortisone injections can cause muscle tissue layers to thin and weaken which can put more stress on other muscles and tendons forcing them to work harder.Then you can avoid those strenuous activities in the future.A wide range of motion stretching that exercises the wrist are advisable.Imagine a time when you can barely hold something tight enough for it not to fall because you cannot feel a thing of what you are holding.This is a confirmed study and tested system and very easy ways to be Cured!
