Cats Tickets - Purring Into A Theater Near You This Year
Currently running at Los Angeles' historic Pantages Theater, Cats will close in late March 2010 after a month of performances only to open again in Boise, Idaho and Boston, Mass. by April. Recently celebrating its 27th anniversary, this award-winning play is doing more than just entertaining audiences all over the globe – it's helping to make a difference, too, in the world of felines.
With a name like "Cats," it seems fitting that this Tony Award-winning musical would adopt a philanthropic program that has to deal with the critter its story follows. In Seattle, the first 50 people who adopt a cat this March will get two free tickets to the March 31 performance of the show when it performs at the Comcast Arena in Everett. If you already have cats of your own but still want to celebrate one of Broadway's longest-running shows, pick up Cats tickets today from http://www.stubhub.com.
Apart from hitting Boise this year, for just one week this internationally respected and revolutionary show will visit Boston's Colonial Theater from April 13-18. The T.S. Eliot play, adapted for the stage with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, picked up the 1983 Best Musical Award at the Tony Awards, as well as Best Book of a Musical, Best Lighting and Best Costumes. The current national production is the only North American run performance sanctioned by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the famous English composer who has had his hand in everything from Sunset Boulevard to Jesus Christ Superstar, The Phantom of the Opera and Evita.
Cats initially found success as a West End production and eventually turned into an international hit, carrying the tune as the first British play to invade Broadway. Its actors, who play cats dressed in full feline motif, must truly be triple threats, offering up the best dancing, acting and singing skills. Typically robed in full spandex costumes, the show's characters gather yearly to decide which cat will be reborn, and the final decision is made by Old Deuteronomy.
The play is most likely recognized for the Webber hit "Memory," which is sung by the lead female Grizabella the Glamour Cat. "[Webber's music] has that certain sound to it that's undeniable and very recognizable," Arizona Broadway Theater's Adam Berger said to Your West Valley. Berger, who has been a fan of the Webber production since he first saw it at age 12, brought the show to Arizona in February 2010, acting as the show's musical director. The success, even in its 27th year of national tours, is unprecedented – nearly every show has sold out since opening two months ago.
The national tour, which will continue to run through the summer and beyond, is produced by CATS-Eye, LLC. The original direction was done by Trevor Nunn with choreography by Gillian Lynne, and is based loosely on Eliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats." The show first opened at the New London Theater in the West End in May 1981, moving to Broadway in October 1982 after closing in Britain and earning the title of longest running show in British theater with over 3,000 performances. Currently celebrating 27 years of touring, the show has visited five continents and 26 countries and has been viewed by more than eight and a half million fans.

Iron Maiden Fear

Iron Maiden Fear

I was talking to my friend Kathy today about public speaking.
Kathy and her husband speak to a lot of groups about marriage and personal relationships. And she told me she works best with a set of notes that remind her what ground she wants to cover in her talk.
And a light bulb immediately went on right over my head, like in the cartoons.
You see, unlike Kathy, when I speak in public, I work best when I fly by the seat of my pants.
Give me a set of notes, and I mumble, fiddle with my index cards, lose my place, and crash and burn like Iron Man on his maiden flight.
But if I just let loose, I soar.
I've spoken to chambers of commerce, writers groups, retirement clubs, Rotary...
And if I do say so myself, I have an uncanny ability to size up my audience (usually during the meal portion of the event), then let 'er rip when I'm at the podium.
Sure, I know my subject, and I know what my Big Finish will be. But truthfully, before I start jabbering to my audience, I haven't got the damnedest clue how I'm gonna get there.
It's kinda remarkable that I ever get invited back. But I usually do.
So what's my point here?
I'm certainly NOT suggesting that you follow my example if you're ever invited to lecture at your local university.
But I AM suggesting that flying by the seat of your pants not only works a good percentage of the time, it works awfully well.
Here's the deal...
What's keeping you from making that jump off the treadmill and into your own business? What's stopping you from writing an eBook? What's standing in your way to moving ahead?
You're not ready yet?
I'll bet you are.
Sometimes, you've just gotta take the leap and fly by the seat of your pants for awhile.
As Julia Cameron has advised, "Leap, and the net will appear."
Start soaring!
When you "fly by the seat of your pants," you can turn a profit almost anywhere. Even at your local coffeehouse. Access a FREE copy of my book Fire-Up Your Cash Flow Over a Donut and Coffee! at http://www.fireupyourcashflow.com
From Wally Conger - "Smashing Wage Slavery One Job at a Time!"
what iron maiden album is better 'dance of death' or 'fear of the dark'?
those are the only two maiden albums that i still don't have(besides the blaze albums' and i only want to gt one right now so which one do you think is better??
I like Dance Of Death better. The title track and Paschendale are awesome!
But you should get Blaze's albums too. I didn't think I would like them (just because it's not Bruce), but Virtual XI is one of my favorite Maiden albums. = )

Melissa Etheridge

Melissa Etheridge's chilling video says it all in "I Need to Wake up" and so do all of us.
Global warming and it's life extinction threat is no longer a speculative or theoretical
possibility.
We are there, now!
Everyday we are presented with a rude awakening in the newspapers headlines
of yet another disaster directly attributable to unnatural and unprecedented climate changes.
Any one who has seen the Melissa Etheridge video depicting the graphic and horrific effects and consequences of global warming must have become just a little more awake.
How could we humans, claim to be intelligent life forms yet, think we could indefinitely get
away with the obscene amount of insults and injuries that we subject our earth and
communal life support system to and expect no adverse repercussions?
Have we been sleepwalking though this?
No!
There were always the voices of the aware ones crying out a warning.
But avarice and greed drowned them out
Well mercifully the balance is shifting and we are waking up to the reality that our
destruction is almost at our doors.
What will we do about global warming and its devastating effects that are already
being felt daily?
Pull the covers up and go back to sleep? Wait for someone else to save us?
There is no one else!
We need to wake up and stay awake!
Clean up our mess with every action we take from now on.
Some experts are saying it may already be too late.
Well be that as it may, we must try.
For, what is the alternative?
When a situation calls for action, we must act!
What can we do?
Let us add our voices to those who tell the inconvenient truth of global warming.
Join StopGlobalWarming.org
Tell everyone you know about the things that you are doing to help stop this disaster
and ask them to join you.
Spend your money wisely and stop supporting any action economic, political or social
that continues to destroy our home the earth.
Wake up and stay alert for this is literally and not virtually a fight for our collective lives.

Did Melissa Etheridge cover Black Velvet?
I know that the original is sung by Alannah Myles, but my husband thinks Melissa Etheridge may have covered it. Can anyone find evidence of this?
Although it sounds a lot like her I do not believe he is correct. I am pretty sure it would be on here if she had.

King Good

King Good

Wenceslas Square is one of Prague's two main squares, a bustling district of commerce with hotels, bars, restaurants, shops, and apartments. The main street of the Square is a 750-meter long, 60-meter wide road built 600 years ago during King Charles IV's rein for use as a horse market.
Overlooking the Square is a statue of the national Czech hero St. Wenceslas astride his horse. This is the same Wenceslas immortalized in John Mason Neale's song, "Good King Wenceslas."
Wenceslaus's [as his name was spelled at that time] parents were Vratislav I, Duke of Bohemia, and Drahomira, the daughter of a pagan tribal chief, who was baptized at the time of her marriage.
In 921 A.D. Vratislav died, and the 13-year-old Wenceslaus went to live with his grandmother, Ludmila, a devout Christian who imbued her grandson with the true meaning of charity. Fleeing a fierce dispute with Drahomira, Ludmila sought refuge at Tetin Castle, where she was strangled by Drahomira's agent on Sept. 15, 921.
In 924 or 925 Wenceslaus gained control of Bohemia from his mother and exiled Drohomira and his twin brother, Boleslaus, who was a few minutes younger than he.
Exiling his mother and brother, rather than executing them, was the first of many acts of charity for the young Duke, whose reign was characterized by the kindness and compassion that he'd learned from his grandmother. Not only did he enact laws that he thought would best serve the Lord, but he also journeyed to other lands seeking enlightenment.
Wenceslaus loved Christmas. Every Christmas Eve he and several pages would take food, firewood, and clothing to his most needy subjects, and he encouraged the rich to give to the poor. He became one of the most-loved rulers of his time, perhaps of all time.
One day in 935, just before entering the chapel for his daily prayers, he heard a voice call to him. Turning, he saw Boleslaus approaching. Before he could recover from his shock, Boleslaus' cohorts stabbed him to death. His last words were, "Brother, may God forgive you." Wenceslaus was 28, and he left behind him a wife and son.
But a strange thing happened. Boleslaus was so revolted by what he had done, that he turned away from the pagans who had supported his quest for power. Instead, he spent the rest of his life carrying out the kind of good deeds that his brother had started.
Flash forward to the mid-19th Century when the Reverend John Mason Neale came across the story of Wenceslaus and decided that it would make a nice example to teach children about Christian generosity. He wrote the lyrics to "Good King Wenceslas"-evidently using poetic license to promote the Duke to a King-and set it to the tune of an old Latin carol, "Tempus Adest Floridum" (translated as "Spring Has Unwrapped Her Flowers"), first published in 1582.
When "Good King Wenceslas" was published in 1853 it quickly became a Christmas favorite, although it actually takes place after Christmas. The first line of the song tells of King Wenceslas looking out on the Feast of Stephen. St. Stephen was Christianity's first martyr, tried for blasphemy by the Sanhedrin and stoned to death by an enraged mob that was urged on by Saul of Tarsus, who was destined to become St. Paul. St. Stephen's feast Day is December 26 in the Western Church and December 27 in the Eastern Church.

i need some help with good things about king charles and reasons why he shouldn't have been executed?
i need to know good about king charles 1 because we're doing a play on the trial of him.any suggestions?
Charles was decorous, chaste, and a devoted monarch.
Unlike other monarchs, Charles never kept mistresses, was totally faithful to his wife, was a good father, and pious in his devotion to religion. He had great taste in art as well.
He also believed that the king had a God given responsibility to govern wisely and with justice. But in return, he also believed that the King was to be obeyed in all things; and it was this stubborn insistence on total obedience that made him an obstacle to political progress, and was the real reason he had to go.
Sorry, but his constant meddling in pitting the army against Parliament, and the Lords against the Commons made him a real threat. He had to go.

Straits Brothers Arms

Mark Knopfler was born in Glasgow, Scotland, but was raised in Newcastle, England. His parents were working class, of modest means, so it was a stretch when Mark asked them for an electric guitar as a present when he was a boy. Mark was overjoyed to get his first guitar, however he did not know that he needed an amplifier to properly play it. Initially then, Mark had to play it with no power, until one day when he got the idea to rewire a radio so he could plug the guitar into it as an amp. It worked, briefly... Mark Knopfler once commented on the radio/amp as pumping out "1.5 watts of sheer power!" The radio blew up shortly thereafter.
However, this experience was enough to get Mark hooked on guitars for life. Later as a teen he came upon a guitar that had a warped neck, and consequently did not sound right when played with a pick. The only way Mark could get it to sound right was by playing with only his fingers, a technique known as finger picking. This as he later recalled was when he developed his "sound" that would later become so well known in the songs of Dire Straits, such as Sultans of Swing, Brothers in Arms, Telegraph Road, Romeo and Juliet, and so many more.
Dire Straits first album, also titled Dire Straits was released in 1978 in Britain, with little fanfare on the charts. However, once the album burst onto the scene in the U.S., Dire Straits found itself rocketing to the top of the charts. It was one this first album that one of the bands most well known singles, Sultans of Swing would cement itself into the rock music lexicon. The entire album is a brilliant set of work from the (at the time) four piece band. Mark Knopfler with his shiny red Fender Stratocaster was now an international sensation.
Stay tuned for part two...
