Cassette Very

It is always better to learn to do it ourselves, especially most cycle repairs are easily done if you are having the right tools in hand. When the other can do it for you, why not, with a little understanding you can always do this better.
At some point or the other in our cycling story, we are going to have to do some works ourselves. We could not always be running for the bicycle mechanic, so why not be sensible enough and begin now. To begin with, let us learn to change our bicycle cassette.
Get the Right Tools for the Job
Before we begin to take off the existing cassette, we better make sure that we are having the right tools to do this job. Two such tools are very special and we are going to have to buy these from the bicycle shop.
- Cassette Lock-ring Tool
- Chain Whip
Cassette Lock-ring Tool
This tool fits into the lock-ring so we can loosen it. There are different lock-rings for different makes, but you can use the same tool for most of them as they are more or less similar.
Chain Whip
This tool is to hold the cassette so that it does not turn when we loosen the lock-ring. It is called a chain whip, just because it is exactly what it looks like; a bar with a short length of chain at one end.
We would also need an adjustable spanner, big enough and also long enough to shift a really tight lock-ring. Any thing over a foot long should be fine, but the longer the better. Also make sure that the jaws have to open wide enough, about 16 mm for the lock-ring tool.
Now - The Job
The first thing that we have to do is tale the rear wheel out. Remember that the gear has to be put on the smallest sprocket. This will make it easier to remove and replace the wheel.
Hold the adjustable spanner in our right hand with lock-ring tool in the jaws of the spanner. Take the quick release out of the axle, and put the lock-ring tool into the lock-ring with the wheel at our feet leaning against our legs, and the cassette facing away.
Rap the chain over the top of a sprocket so that we are holding it in the left hand, and thus stopping the cassette, from turning in the same direction as the lock-ring. As we push down with both hands the lock-ring should come lose; we might need a lot of strength to do this as this can get real tight at times.
While the lock-ring is lose just slide off the old cassette; and to fit on the new one, just slide it onto the cassette freewheel body which is on the side of the wheel hub. The sprockets will only fit on the cassette freewheel body in one position, since they have different sized splines on the inside. Next we have to replace the lock-ring tightening with the adjustable spanner.
Back on Track
Now we won't need the chain whip as we'll be tightening the lock ring against the free wheel. Put the wheel back into the bike, and here we are raring to go.
Managing and replacing worn out bicycle parts is simple, and with the help of the right tools, simply done. After all, this is no rocket science.

Any idea where should i go to to repair my cassette (use in camcorder) tape which might be corrode by seawater?
HELP! The video I had recorded in my cassette tape is very very important to me is there any idea where can I go to seek professional help to retrieve the images.
Sorry Pink, sea water and magnetic tapes won't go together. A magnetic tape is coated with ferric oxide and sea water will spoil this coating almost instantly, if you washed it immediately with clean water it would have helped a little.
Vintage JCPenney mini cassette recorder, very small.
