Why is this hapenening with my bmx cassette?

lOk so my BMX Cassette wont lock, well it does every once and a while....as i pedal it will work, but sometimes it just stops working in wich case i pedal and dont move foward....if that makes sense....so someone thats had the same problem, know how to fix it? or do i need a new one?

i had the very same problem with my bike it turns out that it is broken internally. while i dont remember the name of the part it was the clutch mechanism that allows you to cost, after a while it just stop working and would freewheel both ways
