Camcorder would throw cassette out?

I have a Canon Camcorder. I guess model number is ZR43 or something. I bought it last year. Worked great.

But now, when I put in the cassette, it does not close the cover. It just does not close the cassette compartment and gives me the cassette back. I tried putting in the head cleaning cassette. But it throws it out too. If I do not put any cassette, it closes perfectly.

This started 2 weeks back. Initially, while recording, it would suddenly display “please remove cassette” and stop recording. I would take out the cassette and put it back in. It would start working. But now it does not even allow me to put in the cassette.

Here in America, I understand its not worth gettting repaired anything. So, I have to buy a new one. But I wanted to check with you guys before I throw it. Is this something which I can fix myself? Anyone had this problem?
