Experience An Authentic Argentine Tango This Summer

As travel becomes more of a regular hobby,, many travellers are looking for new destinations and travel experiences to enjoy as the beaches of southern Spain, Hawaii and Florida start to become all too familiar and crowded.

One area that is attracting a lot of attention is the mainly Spanish speaking continent of South America, and in particular, Argentina.. Argentina's largest city and capital, Buenos Aires, is one of the most modern cities in the region and is known to locals as the “Paris of South America”. Its architecture, history, culture and night life give it a distinctive edge over some of the nearby cities and towns.

Although the city boasts a vivid collection of sights and history, Buenos Aires is best known for being a city of fun. Whether you're interested in music, classical dancing or sports, Argentina's capital can provide it all.

Many people associate Argentina with its soccer team and from Alfredo di Stefano to Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi, the country has its fair share of soccer icons. The capital is soccer crazy and if you time your trip well you might be able to catch a game at one of the national stadiums - El Monumental – in Buenos Aires.

Soccer isn't the only sport the Argentines enjoy. Rugby is fast catching up in popularity but for those looking for non-competitive exercise, the capital acts as a base for some of the best cycling routes, with trails leading to Bosques de Palermo and Alcorta.

Buenos Aires is not just a one-dimensional city, and as much as it loves soccer it also loves music. When night approaches, the capital lights up with bars and clubs preparing for an evening of parties. Music venues are available for lovers of every genre so jazz enthusiasts and hip hop aficionados can both rejoice. Parties often last until sunrise so make sure you take comfortable dancing shoes with you.

Dancing is a huge passion for South Americans and flights to Argentina are often bouncing with tourists eager to try out the traditional dances of the area, in particular the Argentine Tango. Many travellers say that going to Buenos Aires and not experiencing the tango is much like visiting Paris and not looking at the Eiffel Tower.

Tango classes are widely available – for beginners as well as those who fancy themselves as a dancer – but if you're not the sort to enjoy partaking in dancing, be sure to get a slither of the experience by going to see a tango show. It may even be enough to inspire you to get your dancing shoes on.

Are there any women out there who dance tango, and hate wearing high heels?

sometimes high heels have been so painful that I feel indescribable spite. Yet I know women are expected to wear heels by the tango community.So more specifically, are there really good solutions you ladies have for making 3-3.5 inc heels way less painful,and more advice, and shared experiences? I love the aesthetics of high heels and Argentine tango, but after a night dancing in just 2-2.5 inch heels, my feet can be killing me.

I'm not a big fan of heels and agree that things like tango seem to require them. You may want to try some custom made shoes, this is pricey but at least the shoes aren't going to pinch and add to the discomfort. Otherwise it'll have to be gel cushions I'm afraid.
