Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Tickets – Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Ready First Album in 15 Years

 

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have their "mojo" back, as Billboard.com reports the veteran rock band will release their 12th studio album, aptly titled Mojo, on June 15. Two weeks after the CD release, Mojo will arrive on audio Blu-ray on June 29. The album is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' first album in eight years (Tom Petty released his last solo album, Highway Companion, in 2006) and they are celebrating with a tour.

The band was originally slated to begin their road trip in Raleigh, N.C. on May 6 but will now kick off their tour—which sees them sharing the bill with Joe Cocker to start—on June 5 in Oakland, Calif. The band rescheduled the dates in order to sync up their album release and tour and will add on the rescheduled dates to the end of the trek.

Joe Cocker will open for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for their first seven shows and a few of other veteran acts will support the band throughout the summer: ZZ Top and Crosby, Stills & Nash. Drive By Truckers and My Morning Jacket will also be along for the ride, which sees Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers performing in amphitheaters and arenas in cities like Morrison, Colo.; Oakland, Calif.; Vancouver, BC; George, Wash.; Calgary, AB; Saskatoon, SK; Kansas City, Mo.; Chicago, Ill.; Auburn Hills, Mich.; Burgettstown, Pa.; New York, N.Y.; Nashville, Tenn.; Hartford, Conn.; Tampa, Fla.; Charlotte, N.C.; Dallas, Texas and more before wrapping things up with a gig in Irvine, Calif. on Oct. 2.

Mojo is the follow-up to 2002's The Last DJ and Billboard.com reports that the album was recorded without overdubs (that's live off the floor for you music buffs) in a style reminiscent of Tom Petty's years with his first band, Mudcrutch. "Something Good Coming" is the lead single off Mojo, and the single has already been praised by Spinner.

"If the first single, 'Something Good Coming,' is any indication, it's safe to say that fans have a lot of good things coming indeed," writes Spinner. "Petty digs right into it with the Heartbreakers in step and the breezy sound marks a return to form for the famously crafty singer-songwriter." Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers recently debuted some new material on Saturday Night Live. Rolling Stone reports that the band was on hand to help SNL wrap up its 35th season on May 15—and it was their eighth appearance on the show! Petty first appeared on SNL during the fifth season of the NBC comedy sketch program in November 1979 and his most recent appearance was in April 1999 for a John Goodman-hosted show. On May 15, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers debuted two new tracks off Mojo: "I Should Have Known" and "Jefferson Jericho Blues." The show was hosted by another SNL regular, Alec Baldwin, who hosted the show for his 15th time (he now ties with SNL veteran Steve Martin).

and if i have to sit way back is it still a good experience?

For the Philly area tickets are going for $95.00 for floor through first level, balance is $75.00. I'm going for the pre-sale tomorrow. It's an excellent concert. I'd rank him #2, a close second to the Rolling Stones. Providing I get my tickets tomorrow, this will be the 3rd time I'm going to see him. It's a very good time! Plus, way back should still be ok, most concerts have the big screens going on. It's all personal preference.
