Turner Private Dancer

Known for her powerful voice and legs that just won't quit Tina Turner trivia will show that she was born as Anna Mae Bullock, but will be remembered as Tina Turner. Much of the history of Turner, and indeed, many of the items on a Tina Turner quiz, are going to be tied up with her ex husband, Ike Turner. It was with Ike turner and his act that she would get her start in show business. Ike and Tina would eventually form the Ike and Tina Turner Revue and marry in the early sixties. The biggest hit the two would ever have would be a cover song, and the pair were well known for performing high energy cover versions of popular tunes. This one though, would go on to become Tina Turners most famous song, and in many ways her cover of Credence Clearwater Revival's "Proud Mary" is even more well known than the original.

A Tina Turner quiz will show that much of her problems in the late seventies were due to Ike. The band was declining in popularity, but Ike was also experiencing severe drug problems, and there were also many reports of abuse of Tina on his part. In a much publicized moment in musical history, Tina would leave Ike in 1976 and has been clear about the abuse that she dealt with as his wife. Despite two previous solo attempts which did not fair to well, Turner was about to experience a second turnaround in her career after her split with Ike.

She would still have more failures in her solo career after the split with Ike, but in 1984 Tina Turner trivia will show that she had the comeback of a lifetime. The song "What's Love Got to Do with It" would become a number one hit, her first and only, but it would firmly launch turner back, and permanently, into the status of musical superstar. The song was on the album Private Dancer (the title track was also a hit) and that year would see her win numerous awards for her comeback, including four Grammies.

In recent years, many of today's stars have stated just how much they have had their careers influenced by Turner, including Beyonce who was one of the feature performers at a tribute to Turner, and with whom Turner performed at the 50th Grammy Awards in 2008.

I was looking at info that was collected from the internet about tracks stored on my Media Player and iTunes application and just realized THIS!
Wow.
I had this Tina Turner Simply The Best CD since the Xmas of 2002 or something, and while I looked at liner notes THEN, I guess I never realized. (I knew a man wrote the song, but I didn't know who it was then...)
So, who else didn't know Mark wrote Private Dancer originally??
OMG! More props to Knopfler! XD
I like some of his Dire Straits songs too.
